Tikvah founded the Jewish Parents Forum (JPF) in 2021 in an effort to help Jewish parents confront the challenges families face in teaching our children the ideas and values we hold dear. Since then, JPF has become a trusted resource for many thousands of Jewish parents seeking to raise courageous Jews, confident Zionists, and patriotic Americans.
Over the last year, it became apparent to us that one of the greatest challenges facing Jewish parents today is the impact of technology on their children. Social media, smartphones, ChatGPT—all of these technologies present difficult and novel questions for schools and families.
In the face of this need, the volunteer leaders of the JPF Tech Task Force stepped into the breach, believing that Jews and Jewish institutions should be leading the way in addressing the growing tech crisis now facing all Americans. These eight visionary women—Julie Blinbaum, Jillian Gliksberg, Tali Herenstein Kolatch, Miriam Krupka, Joanna Loewenstein, Perri Hack Moskovic, and Kim Rechtschaffen—were instrumental in planning Tikvah’s breakthrough event with Jonathan Haidt (the leading thinker in this field) and our inaugural Tech Summit for Jewish day school leaders in April, two watershed events that awakened and attuned our broader community to this issue. These gatherings began the hard work of taking collective action to address this generational challenge. And act we have.
That is why Tikvah is pleased to award the 2024 JPF Prize to the leadership of the JPF Tech Task Force.
